About Me
Hi, I’m Allison—the mind and menace behind At the Gate Glassworks! My love for this artform started with architectural glasswork in churches and historic buildings. Stained glass has always been something I was drawn to, but I never thought I would be in a position to make my own! In 2021, I was gifted my first set of glass tools and I have literally not stopped since.
One of the most frustrating parts of being a beginner at anything is having to wade through a sea of contradictory information, and stained glass is no exception. What works for some people absolutely did not work for me, and there are so many variables that don't get considered. Ultimately, what I always wished for when I was stuck and demoralized was to have someone who could just show me.
That's where my purpose lives! Now that I have figured out all of those variables, I'm left with a system that is easy to follow, understand, and mentally retain. A one on one class with me will give you all the meat of every crucial step of making stained glass, and you'll have the freedom to try everything, ask questions, and gain confidence at your own pace. The feeling of accomplishment when finishing a new piece is unlike anything else, and I want to share that with anyone I can!
When I’m not breaking glass, I’m homeschooling my third grader, hanging with my huskies and fiancé, or hamster-wheeling my next project. My favorite things to make in my free time are functional stained glass pieces (lamps, windows, furniture).
As always, don't be a stranger if you have any further questions, and thank you for your support!
