Some pieces are just too personal to commission from a stranger—so why not make them yourself? This class is for beginners who have a specific stained glass project in mind and want hands-on guidance through every step of the process. Whether you're tackling a custom window panel, a detailed suncatcher, or going all in on a lamp, this studio time lets you bring your vision to life at your own pace.
How it works:
You bring the idea, I provide everything else—materials, tools, and instruction.
You'll learn all the same techniques as my 1:1 beginner pattern class, but with a project of your choosing.
Since stained glass takes time, expect to return for multiple sessions. A lamp might take 40 hours, while a complex suncatcher might take 15—it all depends on your project.
Pay by the hour or pre-purchase a block of time at a discount. Any unused hours will be logged and can be saved for future sessions (valid for 6 months).
How do I get scheduled?
Booking a stained glass class with me is simple and personal—no automated scheduling, just real communication to make sure everything works for you!
Reach Out – Use the contact form on this website or email me directly (allisonatthegate@gmail.com) to let me know which class you're interested in. If you have a specific project in mind for studio time, include some details so I can help you plan.
Payment – Once we confirm the right class for you, you'll submit payment via PayPal or another digital wallet. If you're using ESA funds, I’ll send you an invoice that you will submit via Classwallet.
Scheduling – Once payment is received (Classwallet confirmed for ESA students), we’ll coordinate schedules to find a time that works for both of us. I’ll add you to my calendar, and you’ll be all set to dive into your stained glass project!
Because each piece is unique, this process ensures that I have exactly what you need when you walk through the door. If you have any questions, just reach out—I’m happy to help!
Policies/Studio Info
I want every student and client to have a great experience in my studio! To keep things running smoothly, here are a few important details to know before booking a class.
Safety
My studio is a working stained glass space, which means there are sharp glass pieces, soldering irons, and other tools in use.
Closed-toe shoes are required for safety. Avoid wearing loose sleeves or anything that could catch on tools. Long hair must be tied back.
Protective gear (such as safety glasses and gloves) will be provided as needed.
My classes are beginner-friendly, and I’ll walk you through every step, but please be mindful that stained glass work requires patience and attention to detail.
Class Policies
At the Gate Glassworks operates Tuesday–Friday, with classes typically starting around 10:00 AM. I can be flexible with slightly earlier start times, but no classes begin later than 10:00 AM to ensure projects can be completed before closing at 3:30 PM. The studio is closed on all major holidays.
Pre-Payment Required – All classes must be paid for in advance. This allows me to source glass and prepare materials specifically for you.
Rescheduling – If you need to reschedule, please let me know at least 48 hours in advance, and we’ll find a new time that works. Same-day cancellations or no-shows will not be eligible for rescheduling.
Age Requirements – Most classes are designed for ages 13 and up due to the tools involved. Younger students may be accepted on a case-by-case basis with parental supervision—reach out if you’re unsure!
